The man behind the Smudge the Blades apparel line has a new cause. Harlan Kingfisher is developing Every Child Matters hockey tape. He’s collaborating with Pride Tape to develop orange tape with Every Child Matters all over it. He’s working with the NHL, Hockey Canada, Hockey Alberta and others to roll out the tape shortly with all proceeds going to go to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society and the Every Child Matters
Harlan, who grew up on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan, says it’s great to see Indigenous hockey players starting businesses and getting voices out there and making sure youth are watching, learning and going in the right direction.
The Every Child Matters hockey tape will soon be on his smudgetheblades.com website. You can email Harlan directly at hkingfisher@hotmail.com to find out more. There’s a four month production timeline so Harlan is hoping to gather orders quickly to ensure players and teams are ready to show off the tape in the fall.
He shares his story today - National Indigenous Peoples Day - in our “Stars for Life” video series powered by Imperial Oil:
